A Modern Alternative to Ordinary Paint

Who says you have to use matte, flat, or satin interior paint all the time? Transform any space into a masterpiece with these modern creative finishes:

Textured Paint: Sand-like granules cover flaws in walls and impart a rustic look. Premium Plus Texture Paint, $26 for a 2-gallon can.

Metallic Paint: Light-reflecting pigments give walls shimmer. Faux Impressions Metallic, $75 per gallon.

Tip of the Month: August 2011

If your walls have holes or cracks, it is best to fix them before you start painting. Your project last a lot longer. Wide cracks and large holes need to be "bridged" with fiberglass tape and spackled or use caulk to fill small holes and cracks.

Question:

Hi Dave. I am trying to breathe some life into some old furniture for my kids' room and I'm having a hard time finding a resource for having the bedroom furniture repainted. Is that something that you do or do you know anyone that you can recommend?

There are two twin beds with headboards and footboards, 2 dressers (one with a mirror), and a nightstand table. I want them painted a glossy and durable bright white. If I don't find someone to help I'm afraid that my husband will
try to do it. Can you help? Thanks!!
