It is almost time to dust off those cleaning supplies for Spring Cleaning. Don't forget to look at your gutters. It may need to be cleaned of pine needles and dead leaves. You also may want to check for holes and leaks. By doing a small task such as this, you will help to keep the wood underneath from rotting and causing expensive repairs before its time.

Fall is the perfect time to do a little pressure washing. With all of the moisture we have just recently had and with winter approaching now is the time get the mildew that is starting to form off your home before the cold weather sets in. While you are at it you may also want to take the time to start caulking and sealing around your windows. This will prevent those winter time elements from gaining access to your home. It also will increase the heat efficiency of your home, thus lower your energy bill.

When choosing a series of colors for your home, try using a light color and a dark color that are similar in the color range. This will help give your room depth and make it look larger.

If your walls have holes or cracks, it is best to fix them before you start painting. Your project last a lot longer. Wide cracks and large holes need to be "bridged" with fiberglass tape and spackled or use caulk to fill small holes and cracks.

Try combining opaque and sheer fabrics for fashionable new effects. For instance in any room combine opaque turquoise fabric together with an overlay of sheer, striped silk to make up the window treatments. The silk layer softens the turquoise underneath, and the fabric combo looks light and airy.
